It is so fun to design flower crowns through the different seasons. This crown was made for a high school senior, Hannah, who was having her senior photos taken by You Make Me Shutter Photography this past Halloween. Almost all of the flowers came from the garden, mainly consisting of heirloom mums which are in season in October and early November. They follow up dahlia season, but put on an equally colorful show. The crown also had some crape myrtle berries, sage, and rosemary. It smelled as lovely as it looked.
You can see the mum patch in the background. This was my first year growing them, but I am so sold and plan to plant much more next year. The crown’s structure is an adjustable piece of wired heavy jute/grapevine like material. You can adjust them smaller or larger depending on your head size, or the way you want to wear the crown.
Hannah’s senior photos were done at The Lodge in Concord, NC. Check out more senior shoots with You Make Me Shutter.
