This month I was asked to participate in the Curate Gathering along with other local artists and vendors. The gathering is “A dinner to celebrate the creative community around the Charlotte area. An invitation to gather with individuals seeking beauty in simplicity, finding magic in the every day, and striving to live a creative life whether through career or lifestyle. We would love to have you join us for an evening of crafted food, drinks and community. A uniquely inspired experience is created by involving different collaborators for each dinner. This event will send off Summer in a blaze of color! ” I contributed by doing the flowers for the event.
As the event was themed as pops of bright color to represent summer, I went about making each bud vase arrangement a separate color wave. At least 60 percent of the flowers and greenery for the event were gathered from my garden and local farm vendors. The tables were further accented by geometric sculptures and tie dye napkins from Studio Cultivate as well as glass and tableware from Vintage Charlotte.
The venue was the Goodyear Arts Building which is a artist workspace and gallery in uptown Charlotte. The event was held in the gallery.
Each table was unique with the various sculptures, glassware, and flower arrangements.
The food was provided by Roots Catering and Milk Glass Pies.
The evening also included a live sketch photo booth and screen printing station.
I just adore the photo booth sketch of my daughter and I — and our cute shoe closeup. Our sketch artist was Hannah (@friendlymisanthrope).
A wide view of the gallery space.
It was a great evening full of interesting people, wonderful food, and an all around creative vibe. If you have the chance to attend one in the future you shouldn’t miss it.
